Dear
Friends,
Just a
reminder that I have a work day planned for this Saturday, (and also on Labor
Day weekend), up here at the conference center and future youth/children's
ranch on Thorn Creek just southwest of Idaho City.
I have
staff people moving here in September to help get the place ready
inside for operation and grand opening next spring/summer, and as yet, no
wood to heat with, and other outside projects unfinished that MUST be done
before the snow flies. Please consider spending a few hours of this
Saturday and/or Labor day weekend to help us.
Bring your
tools, work gloves, shovels, sack lunch, etc. There are several projects
inside also for those that cannot or do not want to work outside. I will also
try to have some chili or bean soup or something available for lunch as well.
Directions:
Hwy21 to Idaho City. In the vicinity of mile marker 31 (2 miles past Grimes
Creek turnoff), turn right on county road 377, also known as Thorn Creek Road.
Go up Thorn Creek rd to mile marker 4 and DO NOT turn right with the main road.
It is washed out and you will end up in the creek. Instead go straight on the
smaller driveway-looking road. Go one more mile and turn right on Yellowpine
Lane. Just across the creek, turn left and the ranch is the first place on the
left. Park below the house in the field (below the big pinkish colored rock
house on the hill).
:
These are
some of the things that I wanted to get a start on and/or accomplish this
Saturday (it will take more than one day of work to do everything). Yes, I will
have the generator running, so power will be available.
Projects in
no particular order:
1. Cut,
split, stack 20+ cords of firewood. (Lots of downed trees and slash piles to
pull from).
2.
Bury/Fix/Insulate exposed water lines
3. Sew/hang
curtains and drapes (to keep it warmer in the main lodge).
4. Fix
stable/corral fence
5. Stabilize
the foundations of main lodge and conference building.
6. Clean up
some of the electrical wiring
7. Clear
ground where we are placing 2 new cabins next week.
8. Fill
in ruts in the driveway
9. Thorough
cleaning of prayer cottage, main lodge, and conference center
This is not
just me asking for your help to fix up my home, I only live here caretaking it
for God. I am asking for your help so that myself and the others that have
committed to live here and build this project can use this place to reach
out to and train youth and single men and women in crisis
situations, to establish them in their faith in God and train them to go
out and touch their world with Christ.
Sincerely,
-Tim
